Skyview Hotel, Torrey: Rooms, Domes and How It Compares

What Skyview Hotel in Torrey, Utah offers: its hotel rooms, glamping domes, hot tubs, rooftop and policies, checked against its own site, and how it compares with the glamping and lodge rooms four miles west.

Skyview Hotel is a design-led hotel on Highway 24 in Torrey, Utah, a few minutes from Capitol Reef National Park. It opened in March 2023 and mixes 14 hotel rooms with 6 glamping domes, private hot tubs on its Premium rooms, and a rooftop terrace for stargazing. It is the closest thing in Torrey to what we run four miles west in Teasdale, which is why we wrote this.

We are a competitor, so treat this as a neighbour's view. Every fact about Skyview below comes from its own website or a published review, checked in October 2026, and the sources are listed at the end. Where it is the better choice, we say so.

What Skyview Hotel Is

Skyview calls itself "a reimagined escape just outside Capitol Reef National Park," and leads with "epic views, local art and modern comfort." Guests on Tripadvisor rate it highly: 5.0 from 104 reviews when we checked, ranked first of six inns and B&Bs in Torrey. The praise is consistent. People mention the local art, the red cliff views, the private hot tubs, the rooftop at night, and the free snacks and s'mores.

It sits inside the town of Torrey, which in 2018 became Utah's first International Dark Sky Community. The park itself has been an International Dark Sky Park since 2015.

The Rooms

Skyview has five hotel room types:

  • Premium King Hot Tub and Premium Double Queen Hot Tub, each with a private outdoor hot tub on the patio
  • Essential King and Essential Double Queen
  • Accessible King, with a roll-in shower

The private hot tub is the feature people book Skyview for, and only the two Premium types have one.

The Domes

The domes come in four layouts: King Skylight, King, Queen/Bunk Skylight and Queen/Bunk. Two of the four have no skylight, so if seeing the sky from bed is the point, book a Skylight dome.

Dome guests use a private bathroom about 150 feet away in a central area rather than one inside the dome. That is the most common complaint in reviews. The domes open for a season rather than all year, and Skyview does not publish the exact dates.

Food, Pets and Check-in

  • Food: No restaurant on site. A breakfast box from Shooke Coffee is available seasonally, in-room snacks are free, and there is a shared fire pit with s'mores supplied.
  • Pets: Dogs only, one per room, $65 one-time fee. Not allowed on the rooftop.
  • Check-in: 3:00 to 10:00 pm, with later arrivals arranged in advance. Checkout is 11:00 am, and guests must be 18 to check in.
  • Cancellation: Free up to 7 days before arrival.

What It Costs

Skyview does not publish rates on its own site. A 2026 review put rooms and domes from about $204 a night, and Priceline showed "from $189" without dates. Both move with the season.

How It Compares with Us

Which One to Pick

Pick Skyview if a private hot tub is the point of the trip, you want to walk to dinner in Torrey, or you like a staffed hotel with set check-in hours. The rooftop is a good shared place to watch the sky.

Pick us if you want a bathroom inside your room (every Lodge bedroom has one), you are travelling as a group and want one building to yourselves, you are bringing two dogs, or you would rather be on open land outside town for the night sky. Self check-in also means a late arrival after a long drive is no problem.

Both are a short drive from the park, and both sit under one of the darkest skies in the country. You will not go wrong with either.
